TRADE & CONSTRUCTION INSURANCE

Concreter Insurance Brisbane

Insurance for Brisbane concreters. Public liability, tools, plant, vehicles and contract works arranged by a local broker who understands the trade.

Whether you’re pouring house slabs in Logan, laying driveways in the northside suburbs or forming up footings on commercial sites, concreting carries risks most trades never face. Once a pour starts, there’s no pausing it. One bad day with a pump, a storm or a hidden service line can turn a routine job into a claim worth tens of thousands.

Monarch Insurance Brokers arranges insurance for concreters across Brisbane and Southeast Queensland. We work for you, not the insurer, so we compare the market and make sure your policy matches the work you actually do.

Concrete Smoothing Work

Cover That Holds Up as Well as Your Work

We arrange cover for:

  • Residential concreters (slabs, driveways, paths, patios, pool surrounds)

  • Commercial and civil concreters

  • Decorative concreters (exposed aggregate, stencilled, polished and coloured finishes)

  • Concrete cutting, coring and grinding contractors

  • Formworkers and steel fixers

  • Concrete pumping operators

  • Sole traders, partnerships and Pty Ltd businesses with crews and subcontractors

What Concreter Insurance Covers

Concrete Pouring Process

Public Liability

Covers your legal liability if your work injures someone or damages their property. For concreters, that’s slurry washed into a neighbour’s stormwater, overspray on a client’s car, or a cracked boundary wall from vibration.

Construction Site Workers

Contract Works

Covers the works themselves while under construction. If a storm washes out freshly poured concrete, formwork collapses, or materials are stolen from site, contract works cover pays to put it right.

Construction Tools Closeup

Tools & Equipment

Screeds, power trowels, vibrators, saws, laser levels and mixers are expensive and easy to steal from utes and building sites. Portable equipment cover protects them on site, in transit and in storage.

Knee X-Ray Diagnosis

Personal Accident and Illness

Concreting is hard on the body. If you’re a sole trader or business owner, WorkCover generally won’t cover you personally. Personal accident and illness cover replaces part of your income if injury or illness stops you working.

Diggers on Construction Site

Plant and Machinery

If you run bobcats, mini excavators, concrete pumps or ride on trowels, they need specific cover for accidental damage, theft, fire and third party liability when operating.

Orange Cement Truck

Commercial Motor Vehicle Insurance

Your trucks, tippers and utes keep the business moving. We arrange commercial motor cover for single vehicles through to fleets, including signwriting, toolboxes and fit outs.

What Affects the Cost of Concreter Insurance?

Concrete doesn’t wait. Once the truck arrives and the pour starts, you’re committed, and so is your risk. A general business policy isn’t built for the pumps, slurry, service lines and finishing deadlines that come with the job.

Real Claim Scenarios: Brisbane Builders

Storm hits mid pour

A Brisbane summer afternoon storm rolls in over a freshly poured driveway in Carindale. Heavy rain ruins the surface finish and the slab has to be broken out and repoured. Contract works cover can respond to the cost of repairing the damaged works.

Tools stolen overnight.

A ute parked outside a job in Wynnum is broken into and $8,000 worth of power trowels, saws and levels are taken. Portable equipment cover pays to replace them so you’re back on the tools quickly.

Pump line failure

A concrete pump hose bursts on a residential site in Springfield, spraying concrete across the client’s new render, windows and a neighbour’s car. Public liability covers the third party property damage.

Cracking claim from reactive soil

Months after completing a house slab in Ipswich, the owner claims cracking damaged their tiles and internal walls. Brisbane’s reactive clay soils make this a common dispute. Products and completed works liability may respond to resulting damage, although the cost of fixing your own work is typically excluded.

Underground service strike

While saw cutting a slab in Chermside, a crew member cuts through a buried electrical cable that wasn’t shown on the plans. The repair bill and the business interruption claim from the property owner land on the concreter. Public liability can respond, but many policies limit or exclude underground services, so this needs checking before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most residential work requires at least $10 million. Commercial builders and head contractors commonly require $20 million. Check your contracts before choosing a limit.

  • Public liability doesn’t cover the cost of repairing your own work. It may cover resulting damage to other property, such as tiles or walls damaged by a cracked slab, depending on the policy wording.

  • Do I need contract works insurance?
If you’re working on commercial projects or your contract requires it, yes. It’s also worth considering if you regularly take on large pours where weather or theft could cause major losses.

  • It depends on your policy. Some exclude underground services entirely or cap the amount. We check this for you and look for policies with adequate cover if your work involves cutting, coring or excavation.

  • Some policies extend cover to subcontractors, but many insurers require subbies to hold their own public liability. We’ll help you set this up correctly.
